Moon over Dover

Not quite full. 31 January 2007

I'm notorious for taking photographs of the moon. It's a compulsion. A sickness. People laugh at me. I just can't help myself.

Wow. Amazing photo. I'd like to know how you took it. Did you use your digital camera? (And if so, did you use manual controls?) How'd you NOT make it look like a tiny dot in the sky?

The clarity is amazing, showing the surface of the moon. --Chris

Great photo - viewing the night sky is one of the joys of Vermont. I hope you post more of the moon in different phases.

The photo was taken a Sony Cyber Shot 5.1 MP digital camera (just like yours?)using the "landscape" setting and the "VGA" image size selection. The VGA size allows more zoom than the other size settings.
Other than than that, it was just point and shoot - I didn't have a tripod handy, so I just rested the camera on the side of the building to steady it.
